Ron Ratliff earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and developed a background in business management. Randy Bryant (who began working in construction in 1970 while still in high school) earned a bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University. Soon thereafter, Bryant went to work for an insurance company where he met Ratliff. When Bryant and Ratliff discovered their mutual interest in building homes, a partnership was born.
